The Unshakable Presence

"The Unshakable Presence”

Psalm 16:8 (NLT)

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

The fitting title captures the essence of finding stability and strength in the constant presence of the Lord. It emphasizes the idea that, with God by our side, we can stand firm and unshaken in the midst of life's challenges.

In this life we are faced with many turns, uncertainties, sorrows, and joys, we can fine comfort in the profound words of Psalm 16:8. The psalmist declares, "I have set the Lord always before me," affirming a conscious and unwavering decision to place God at the forefront of every aspect of life.

Setting the Lord before us is an intentional choice. It involves acknowledging His presence in our daily affairs, seeking His guidance in our decisions, and aligning our hearts with His will. When we deliberately position God at the center of our thoughts and actions, we find assurance that we are not navigating life alone.

With God at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Here, the imagery of God being at our right hand signifies His closeness, support, and protection. By recognizing God's presence at our right hand, we are acknowledging His constant companionship and assistance. Life's challenges may attempt to shake us, uncertainties, trials, and tribulations may come our way. Yet, when we are anchored in the promise of God's presence, we can stand firm. The assurance is not that difficulties won't arise, but that we will not be shaken beyond recovery. With God by our side, we find stability and strength to face whatever comes our way.

The writer of Hebrews states, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So, we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper.” This New Testament passage reaffirms the promise of God's enduring presence, echoing the sentiments of Psalm 16:8. The assurance that God will never leave or forsake us provides a foundation for confidence and trust in various aspects of our lives. It encourages us to find contentment in God's presence, recognizing Him as a faithful helper.

As you go through your day, take a moment to set the Lord before you. Invite Him into your thoughts, decisions, and actions. Trust that He is at your right hand, ready to guide, strengthen, and uphold you. In this deliberate position with God, you will discover a steadfastness that transcends circumstances, for in His presence, you shall not be shaken.
