Facing Life's Challenges

Facing Life’s Challenges

2 Chronicles 20:12 (NIV)

Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you."

When King Jehoshaphat learned that three armies were joining forces to invade Judah, he was rightfully afraid. He didn’t know what to do, but his next steps are a great example for all of us.

He assembled the people and prayed “Lord, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you (2 Chronicles 20:6). And verse 9, "If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us." These verses reflect the commitment of the people of Judah to turn to God in times of trouble. They express their faith that, in the face of calamity, they will stand before God's temple, cry out in distress, and trust that God will hear and save them. It underscores the importance of seeking God's presence and relying on Him in times of difficulty.

As we face the challenges of the year 2024, let 2 Chronicles 20:12 serve as a source of strength and comfort. Just like the people of Judah felt powerless against the vast army, many of us are feeling overwhelmed by the challenges ahead. As we approach 2024 let us turn to God in prayer, acknowledging our limitations and seeking His guidance. When you do not know what to do look to Jesus.

Pray for His judgment on the challenges you face, asking for His wisdom and intervention. Trust that even when you do not know what to do, keeping your eyes on God will bring you direction and assurance. Just as God provided a miraculous deliverance for the people of Judah, believe that He can also lead you through your difficulties in the year ahead.

May this verse inspire you to maintain faith, seek God's guidance, and trust in His ability to navigate you through the uncertainties of 2024.
