The Source Of Strength
Psalms 121:1-2
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence
cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He
will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold,
he that keepeth Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep.
Psalm 121:1 begins with the psalmist looking up to the
mountains and asking, "Where does my help come from?" The answer is
given in the next verse, “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and
earth.”
Life is filled with challenges, obstacles, and
uncertainties that seem overwhelming. As we navigate the difficulties of our
journey, we often find ourselves asking, "Where does my help come
from?" It is a universal question that echoes in the hearts of people
across time and cultures. The Psalmist encourages us to shift our focus from
the overwhelming nature of our problems to the steadfastness of God. The
assurance that our help does not come from our own strength or the
circumstances around us but from the Lord, who is the sovereign ruler over all
creation. They expressed a profound sense of dependence and trust in God.
When we face towering mountains of adversity, it's
natural to seek aid from various sources, our own strength, the advice of
others, or the solutions the world offers. The psalmist's response provides
profound clarity and reassurance: "My help comes from the Lord, the Maker
of heaven and earth. The One who created the heavens, and the earth is the
source of our help.
Today, take a moment to reflect on the mountains in
your life. Lift your eyes above them and fix your gaze on the Lord. Embrace the
assurance that your help comes from the One who not only formed the mountains
but is also willing and able to move them on your behalf. Trust in the Maker of
heaven and earth, for in Him, you find unwavering help and steadfast strength.
