Embracing Our Divine Identity
Embracing Our Divine Identity
1 John 3:1(NIV)
See how great a love the Father has
bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are.
For this reason, the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
The apostle John writes, In 1 John 3:1,
"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be
called children of God! And that is what we are!" These words echo with
profound significance, inviting us to embrace our identity as beloved children
of God.
To be called a child of God is to be
enveloped in the boundless love of the Father. It is a love that surpasses
understanding, a love that is freely given, not earned. God's love is not
measured by our worthiness but by His grace, which he lavishes upon us abundantly.
Our Understanding of ourselves as children of God shapes how we view ourselves
and our relationship with Him. We are not merely servants or subjects; we are
cherished sons and daughters, heirs to the promises of God. This identity
brings with it a sense of belonging, security, and purpose that exceeds any
earthly measure.
There are some critical things to know
about God’s love: God’s love is so great
that it paid the highest price to redeem you. He gave His most precious
treasure in the universe, His own dear Son Jesus, who shed His precious, royal
blood to purchase our salvation. God’s love is so great that it has nothing to
do with anything in us. God doesn’t love us because we avoid the sins. He
doesn’t love us because we go to church. God loves us in spite of our sinful
past and current struggles. God’s love is so great that when we receive it
through repentance and faith, we become His very own sons and daughters. He
adopts us into His family! There is no greater blessing than to become a
blood-bought child of God. who will spend eternity with Him in heaven.
As children of God, we are called to live
in the light of this truth. We are called to walk in the confidence of our
identity, knowing that we are deeply loved and valued by our Heavenly Father.
This reality transforms how we perceive ourselves and others, instilling in us
a sense of dignity and worth that is rooted in God's love.
As children of God, we carry the
responsibility to reflect His character in all that we do. Just as children
bear the likeness of their parents, so too are we called to bear the likeness
of God, displaying His love, mercy, and compassion to the world around us. In a
world that often seeks to define us by our achievements, possessions, or
status, let us instead find our identity in being children of God. Jesus said,
“Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love”
(John 15:9). May we believe and abide in His love!
