Rejoice In God’s Strength Nehemiah 8:10 (NLT) And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!” In Chapter 8 of Nehemiah the Law of the Lord was read, when the people heard the word of God they were sadden. Nehemiah encouraged them that such sadness of heart was not necessary. Instead, he said, “Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared.” (Nehemiah 8:10). He encouraged them to find their strength in the joy of the Lord, to express generosity, celebrate God's goodness, and embrace a holy and joyful perspective in their lives. Nehemiah encouraged the people to celebrate! God had delivered them out of exile and had given them the strength to rebuild their home; that is certainly cause for celebration. When we r...

A Cry In The Storm

"A Cry in the Storm" Psalm 107:28 (NLT) “Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! Life is filled with storms: unexpected challenges, trials, and difficulties that threaten to overwhelm us. In the midst of these storms, it's easy to feel lost and powerless. Psalm 107:28 captures a universal truth: in times of trouble, the natural response is to cry out for help. In verses 25-29 it states that sailors were helpless in the storm. They had no control over the movements of their ship. But they “cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress.” They could not rely on their own strength, but they trusted in the power of the Lord. Consider the situation of the sailors; a desperate cry rising above the howling winds of distress. It is a honest plea, acknowledging their...
Title: "Repentance and Renewal : A Path to Transformation " Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.   Introduction: Brothers and sisters in Christ, the Theme for tonight is "Repentance and Renewal” I will reflect on these two profound themes that lie at the heart of our spiritual journey: Repentance and Renewal. I will add that they lead to Transformation .   The Call to Repentance: Scripture teaches us in Acts 3:19, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." Repentance is not merely a one-time event but a continuous turning away from sin and toward God. It is a humble acknowledgment of our need for God’s forgiveness and grace. We must recognize the areas in our lives where we have fallen short, and with...
The Source Of Strength Psalms 121:1-2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, From whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: He that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel Shall neither slumber nor sleep. Psalm 121:1 begins with the psalmist looking up to the mountains and asking, "Where does my help come from?" The answer is given in the next verse, “My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Life is filled with challenges, obstacles, and uncertainties that seem overwhelming. As we navigate the difficulties of our journey, we often find ourselves asking, "Where does my help come from?" It is a universal question that echoes in the hearts of people across time and cultures. The Psalmist encourages us to shift our focus from the overwhelming nature of our problems to the steadfastness of God. The assurance that our help does not come fr...
